Jacques BAUDOUX
AFIAP
Born on January 10, 1945 in Trazegnies (Hainaut).
Professional activity : responsible for the image processing team of the newspaper " Le Soir ".
PHOTOGRAPHIC ACTIVITIES
1975 : First participation in a photoclub, the " Association belge de photographie et de cinématographie ".
1991 : President of the AP27 photoclub.
1992 : Currently, secretary of the Brussels Miroir Photoclub, and trustee of the "Fédération belge de Cercles Photographiques", in charge of the International Federation of Photographic Art's Awards service.
MISCELLANEOUS
I'm active in monochrome and colour photography, shooting negatives and slides. Colour prints are enlarged in my own darkroom from negatives or transparencies. I participated in several juries, and up to now had 44 photographs accepted in international contests, with one Gold Medal of the International Federation of Photographic Art received in 1994 at a contest organized by " Agfa-Gevaert ".
Audiovisual presentations : " The discovery of the Americas ", " French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, Huahine, Raiatea, Moorea, Rangiroa) ", " Vietnam, from Hanoi to Saigon ".
TRAVEL
Two months on the Aeolian Islands, climbing the Stromboli and diving; two months in Creta; one month in Martinique, discovering the island and diving; Classical Egypt with Gizeh, Saqqarah, Louksor, and diving in the Red Sea; Canada, Ontario, Quebec; central & south Mexico, Guatemala (Peten jungle), 6.640 km through Belize driving an old VW combi; Peru-Bolivia-Amazonia; two months in French Polynesia (the Society Islands: Tahiti, Bora Bora, Raiatea, Huahine, Moorea and Rangiroa); a stay of nine months in Greece.
Also: Spain, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, southern France and Cathare region, southern Italy, Sicily, Sardinia, diving in Portugal, individual archaeological circuit in Etruria. Most of these travels were done independantly of any touristic organization, using individual and local means of transport.
During all these travels thousands of transparencies were shot, which were used for the creation of audiovisual slide shows.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Holder of a skin diving certificate, I practised this discipline intensively from 1966 till 1992. President from 1978 till 1984 of the Wolu Diving Club.
President from 1979 till 1990 of the photography commission at the Belgian Association for Submarine Activities and Research, as well as of the audiovisual commission of the Frenshspeaking League for Submarine Activities and Research.
From 1978 till 1988: Organizer of a national festival for submarine amateur films and of an international festival for submarine photography and film.
