Emile GITS
EFIAP

Born in 1933, I am a jewels setter.
I bought my first camera in 1960, when my son was born. I immediately joined a photo club where I learned the basics of photography.

As most amateurs, I started with colour slides, but I switched over to black & white photography very soon.
I like the room left for creativity in the B&W darkroom work, offering in my opinion so much more interpretative possibilities to the photographer.

I regularly participate in photography contests, which allows me to get acquainted with lots of friends in other photo-clubs.
I was published in several photographic periodicals, in Belgium as well as abroad, and I had personal exhibitions in various countries.
The base of my equipment is a Nikon body with a 20 mm wide-angle lens - also a Nikon, of course.

Note from the club :

It should be mentioned that Emile GITS is the main responsible of the Brussels Miroir P.C., that he was repeatedly a laureate of the "Nikon International" contest and that he received the Excellence FIAP (EFIAP) distinction of the International Federation of Photographic Art.
Needless to say that he received countless distinctions, including 5 "Médailles du Roi", the highest individual distinction given by the "Fédération Belge de Cercles Photographiques", the belgian association of photo clubs.
