Penelope Duns wins the "Dorint Photoplate Award 2006"
The Photoplate Award has been created in 2001 by Dorint Novotel Brussels Europe (recently renamedinto Silken Berlaymont Brussels), well known for its interest in contemporary European photography.
This annual contest is aimed at professional photographers as well as students in photography from the European Union.Every year, a jury of photographers, journalists and independant experts selects a series of 6 photographs that will illustrate dinner show plates used on a daily basis in the restaurant 'L'Objectif'. A three months individual exhibition in the "Zoom Gallery" is also offered to the laureate.
After Daniel Locus in 2003 and Peter Roels in 2004, Penelope Duns became this year's winner with her series "Visions Insolites".
"I have been an artist all my life" says Penelope, "practising painting, ceramics, and sculpture for many years. Photography has always been part of my professional life as a web site designer, because I always preferred to take thephotos by myself rather than to use stock images. About 2 years ago I came to the conclusion that it was time to look in a more serious way into photography as a means of art. I started to take artistic photos, and the use of digital photography and processing has allowed me to develop my creativity to new heights. At present I am investing a lot into my photography, digital processing skills and my artistic vision, with the idea of starting to exhibit my work."
We are happy and proud to have Penelope amongst our members.
Congratulations, Penelope!
